Sri Lankans currently living overseas and who wish to return to Sri Lanka will no longer require approval from the Foreign Ministry, according to News 1st.
Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said the decision was made following a review of the COVID-19 situation in Sri Lanka.
“Sri Lankans who are overseas faced difficulties in obtaining approval and therefore such a decision was made,” said General Silva.
Those who were willing to be repatriated and those who were willing to return on their own expense were instructed to obtain the Foreign Ministry’s approval to enter the country.
However, the COVID Task Force has announced that such approval will not be required for Sri Lankans returning from overseas.
